Make your Own Avatar

Have wondered how to make your own avatar? In order to interact in the Second Life virtual world you must make your own avatar. This is an easy but important step to becoming a member of this online community.

Second Life Avatars (Appearance)

Second Life is an online virtual world that has over 1 million active users. You can go on Second Life to attend distance learning classes, network with others in your field, set up a money making business, or just to have fun. But, in order to do any of these things you must first build your own avatar.

To create your own avatar you have to become a Second Life member. This is easily accomplished by filling in their online form which gives you several choices of basic avatar looks. Once you have chosen your basic avatar, you create a user name and password. There are two forms of membership – free or paid – and the choice is up to you and what you wish to accomplish in Second Life.

No matter which membership you have you will always need your avatar to live your Second Life. Inside the virtual world you can fully customize your basic avatar. The Second Life virtual world has an easy to follow module that will walk you through this creation process. The module is accessible right clicking into your avatar and selecting “Appearance” in the menu or selecting: Edit - Appearance from the top menu on the Second Life viewer interface (or screen). Your avatar can be a realistic representation of you or a total fantasy.

When you make your own avatar you will be able to choose body shape, hair color, skin color, height, eye color, and many other attributes. This allows you to create exactly who you want to be when you interact with others in the virtual world.

Second Life Avatars (Add-Ons)

Once you have created your avatar and explored the Second Life virtual world you may want to add to your avatar’s appearance. This can be done by shopping in Second Life. Anything you would buy in the real world and much more is available in Second Life.

Stop by one of the many fashion boutiques creative clothing designers have opened to sell their clothing. New “do”? Pop into a virtual salon or hair shop.
