A recent market study focused on Second Life in an attempt to document how people were spending their time online in the virtual world. The study discovered that 80 percent of a member’s time ‘in world’, or inside the virtual world, is spent enjoying Second Life entertainment. This is equivalent to around 18 hours of computer time every week.

In the real world only around 25 percent of the time, is typically spent weekly pursuing entertainment. The vast difference in these numbers was shocking. After reviewing the numbers experts decided Second Life was so popular because it was cheap and travel was not an issue.

Second Life entertainment comes in all shapes and sizes. You can spend time on a quite walk in the park, attend a loud and crazy live music rock concert or participate in adrenaline activities and sports.

Shopping is the most popular online entertainment activity in the virtual realm. Users can shop in member created stores for clothing, accessories, pets, home furnishings, vehicles and more. Why is Second Life so popular? As mentioned earlier Second Life entertainment is cheaper than entertainment in the real world. Another reason for its success is the ease of access. You can enjoy any entertainment venue from the privacy of your own home and don’t have to spend a lot of money either like you would in the real world.
